New BuD In The Mud

An experimental electronic pop duo by Sugar Yoshinaga and Yumiko Ohno.

The year is 2025. Having carried on as Buffalo Daughter for over three decades, they have traveled across countries, met and parted with countless people, witnessed the unforeseen arrival of a global pandemic, unsettling world events, the loss of admired musicians and artists, and even the passing of loved ones. These experiences weighed heavily over the past few years-closing one's eyes in search of peace only to feel the sun's heat burning relentlessly, sweat stinging the eyes.

Wiping it away, we returned to the dimly lit room surrounded by instruments. Turning the knobs of a synthesizer purchased during the pandemic, a spark of innocent joy suddenly emerged. The anxiety melted away, replaced by pure immersion in sound, losing all sense of time. What came out of those sessions felt strikingly new-like the beginning of another journey.

This new departure is called 2BD: a fresh sprout pushing its way out of the mud.
