In recent years, various forms of Japanese music-including city pop and fusion-have been rediscovered across borders and generations. At the same time, contemporary J-pop, hip-hop, K-pop, African-rooted pop music, and other styles from around the world are interacting more closely than ever, continuously giving rise to new musical currents.
I see a strong parallel between this environment and the spirit of 1970s-80s fusion, where different musical ideas were freely combined without being bound by genre.
"Some kind of fusion"was created from that perspective: a guitar-led instrumental built around the bright, breezy energy of guitar fusion, while incorporating contemporary production aesthetics and the language of hip-hop.
Rap vocals are featured by jackkn.
As for the inspiration behind the cover artwork, I'll leave that to your imagination.
Composition / Arrangement / Guitar / Bass / Keyboards / Programming / Cover Artwork: Daisuke Akao
Lyrics / Rap: jackkn
With the exception of some assistance with typography adjustments for the cover artwork and a limited amount of administrative work, no AI was used in the music production process for this release.
To preserve the texture and presence of live performance, all live-instrument parts were processed using acoustics derived from Onkio Haus in Tokyo. I hope even a little of the atmosphere of this legendary studio-where countless artists have recorded over the years-comes through in the sound.
This is an original instrumental work composed and produced by myself, released as an original master recording.
