Tiny Step "Southside" Trio presents OLD SONGS, NEW LIGHT, a 5-track cover EP that reimagines evergreen gems from pop, jazz, and soft rock through their signature authentic rocksteady and ska lens.
Featuring a curated selection including Burt Bacharach's "Close to You," Paul Williams' "We've Only Just Begun," and Les Reed's "The Last Waltz," alongside the cool jazz of Paul Desmond's "Take Ten" and the soulful breeze of The Young Rascals' "Groovin'."
With a deep reverence for vintage Jamaican sounds, the trio crafts sophisticated ensembles that breathe new life into these masterpieces. While strictly instrumental, the melodies speak with a profound eloquence, blending nostalgic elegance with a warm, modern groove. A must-listen for those seeking a sophisticated yet soulful musical escape.
Tiny Step "Southside" Trio is one of the several units formed by a Hammond organist and a Keyboardist Yokinori Yamaguchi. In 1999, Yamaguchi created the Hammond organ-centered instrumental band FULL SWING and had performed all over Japan. While working with his original band, he has performed with well known artists such as Keiichi Sokabe's PINK BAND, Magokoro Brothers, and Sunny Day Service. He's been working with various artists/bands as well as for commercial music. In 2015, FULL SWING went on hiatus, and Yamaguchi started his new career under the name of Tiny Step. The unit collaborates with a guitarist and a drummer And they produce a Caribbean style of music such as Rocksteady, Ska or Calypso.
