Yoru no Strangers will release their long-awaited 11th full-length album, their first in four years.
Formed in 1998, Yoru no Strangers, a.k.a. Yoru Sto, has been playing rock and roll for a quarter of a century. The album is a miraculous fusion of the years and the burning urge of these treasures of the Japanese rock 'n' roll scene, and it is an album that no one else can imitate.
In recent years, the band has continued to release albums that emphasize reality without any overdubs, but this time they have made a complete change of heart. In addition to overdubbing, acoustic guitar, percussion, and the piano organ of MABO (Mutsumi Yanagiya & The RATBONES, ex. MABO & The 88's), who has been playing on the album since the first album, are featured!
M-2 "Heimin" is a soulful message with a rockabilly style guitar and a galloping sound as if the late Duane Eddy had taken over, which is only possible on a night strike. M-3 "Free Soul" features drummer Tetsuo on bongos. M-4 "Soul Train" is a road movie-style number, a specialty of Night Strike. M-5 "Odori-o Baby" has a pleasant honky-tonk piano. M-7 "Familia ni Notte" is a momentary dub-style song. M-8 "Shinsekai," the title track, is a sad yet powerful song that truly deserves the word "full length"; M-10 "O Boys" is a rock steady number; and M-13 "Conan" closes the album with a big chorus by 25 members. In any case, all the songs are wonderful.
It would be too clichéd to list all the problems with this album. There is no doubt that the 13 songs are the best ever in terms of sound. Listen to it with all your heart.
