Lyric

I wanted to run in those shoes

Laugh and play like she used to do

But I never had a pair of my own

So I waited, quiet and alone

She said, “You can have them now”

When they didn’t matter somehow

She laughed and tossed them to me

But it’s too late — I don’t need them now anymore

Oh well, maybe it doesn’t matter now

I loved that dress in ocean blue

But she outgrew it, so it came through

We’re the same age, but it’s no use

It wouldn’t fit me, that’s the truth

My little sister wears it now

And I guess that works out somehow

“You can have it, if you’d like anyway"

But the moment’s gone — it is not mine anymore

Oh well, maybe it doesn’t matter now
