Falling snow, and a blade stained crimson.
Amid the turmoil of the Aizu War at the end of the Edo period, one young woman warrior stood with unwavering dignity before vanishing into the tides of history.
Her name was Takeko Nakano - a gifted and courageous young woman whose life burned brightly, if only for a brief moment.
Raised in Edo and accomplished in both literary and martial arts, Takeko formed a group of women warriors known as the Jōshitai when her homeland was threatened. Naginata in hand, she willingly stepped onto the battlefield.
Tied to the blade she carried was a strip of paper bearing her farewell poem - a declaration of resolve and pride in the face of death.
"Though I may be unworthy to count among them,
I dare to stand beside the fierce hearts of warriors."
Not for anyone else, but for the principles and pride she chose to uphold.
Beginning with a quiet, melancholic melody, the music gradually surges into an intense guitar solo that evokes a desperate charge across the battlefield. Through emotional rock guitar, the piece portrays the fleeting yet noble life of Takeko Nakano, who died at the age of twenty, and the brilliance of a spirit that burned until its final moment.
"Nanamie's Brain Atelier" is a free-form music project where "Sound Samurai" - creators quietly pursuing their own aesthetics and sonic landscapes - gather, keeping a deliberate distance from the mainstream spotlight and the conventional music industry. Centered around rock, background music, and cinematic worldviews, the project crafts a diverse sonic universe that seamlessly blends raw live takes with digital editing techniques.
