Last Stop
POLTA
POLTA is a two-piece band consisting of Ai Onae (Vo, G) and Suguru Fukuda (B, Cho).
With Onae's crystal-clear vocals, and lyrics that depict everyday life just as it is, the band has steadily gained empathy from listeners. Their first album SAD COMMUNICATION, released in 2015, won the Hokuriku Block Award at the CD Shop Awards.
In July 2016, about a year after their debut album, POLTA released the mini-album HELLO AGAIN. In May 2017, their venue-exclusive release DOSEI SHONEN EP sold out shortly after its release.
Now, the constantly active POLTA presents their second full-length album-an intensely rock-driven work themed around love and death: LOVE & DEAD. Rumor has it that they've even escaped the very bottom of the school social hierarchy. "No more staying in the corner!"
This album includes "Last Stop," a newly written song for the film Please Don't Go Anywhere (directed by Rin Shuto), in which POLTA appeared and provided the music. The film won the Best Musician Award at MOOSIC LAB 2017. The album also features a new album mix of "Dosei Shonen," the title track from their previous venue-exclusive EP, as well as "Shissou Shigan," a staple call-and-response song at their live shows.
All ten tracks highlight the distinct songwriting styles of each member.
Artist Profile
POLTA
POLTA is a Japanese two-piece band consisting of Ai Onae (Vo, G) from Toyama and Suguru (B, Cho) from Kumamoto. Known for their transparent vocals, catchy pop melodies written by both members, and lyrics rooted in everyday life, the band has gradually built a loyal following. Originally formed in 2008 by Ai Onae as a four-piece band, POLTA became the current two-member lineup in 2010. In 2012, they released the music videos Tooku e Ikitai and Sayonara Diary, marking the beginning of their full-scale activities. In 2014, they performed at the Swiss event JapAniMangaNight. Their first album SAD COMMUNICATION was released in 2015 and received the Hokuriku Block Award at the CD Shop Awards. Tooku e Ikitai was also featured as the opening theme for NHK E-TV Kokorobu!. In 2016, they released the mini album HELLO AGAIN. In 2017, POLTA held their first one-man live show and appeared in and composed music for the film Please don't go anywhere, winning the Best Musician Award in the feature-length category at MOOSIC LAB. Their second album LOVE TO DIE was released in 2018, and its release show at Shibuya WWW sold out. Since then, the band has continued active releases including a 7-inch vinyl, remix works, and consecutive digital singles. In 2024, they released the summer-themed single Zenkoku Natsuyasumi Taikai Yusho, followed by the winter-themed Oden after tomorrow in 2025.
