Cru's new song "KAGUYA" draws inspiration from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, Japan's oldest folktale, boldly portraying themes of love and manipulation, beauty and destruction within a vivid, dreamlike soundscape.

The lyrics unfold against imagery of moonlight, the sound of bamboo, and the fragrance of rain, with the repeated calls of *"mae" (dance) and "mahare" (revolve) creating a ritualistic rhythm. Men, captivated by the beauty of "KAGUYA," are led astray, compelled to fight, and ultimately destroyed-an allegory of desire and ruin woven into poetic, archaic expressions.

Yet the song is not only about downfall. Within its verses lies a confession: "The only one who truly loved me was you." Beyond bloodlines, beyond the inevitability of parting, the mere fact of having met becomes a happiness worth treasuring. This acknowledgement of a singular, transformative love turns the tale of fate into one of salvation and eternal memory.

Blending ethereal melodies with Japanese rhythmic motifs, and carried by Cru's pure and expressive vocals, "KAGUYA" emerges as a modern epic-an evocative retelling of timeless myth that resonates deeply with the human heart.

Artist Profile

  • Cru

Born in Nagano Prefecture. January 1, 2023. Artist and actor. From childhood, singing was the one thing that never left my life. While I intended to fulfill my life as an actor, I discovered that through music and its worldviews, I could encourage and inspire others. In 2023, I officially debuted as the artist Cru. Having walked the path of acting, I now sing with the motto that songs are stories, staying close to the world of each song and also to the stories of those who listen. If the world holds both darkness and light, then we should accept the darkness and search for the light. Now, what kind of story shall we embark on from here?
