Eddie Vedder's performance in Japan was absolutely incredible.
I can still vividly remember the exact moment the sound first kicked in when I popped Pearl Jam's Vitalogy into the stereo in my parents' room back home. It was "Last Exit," I think. To my high school self, that dry, raw sound felt so unprocessed and real-it's a memory that has stayed with me ever since.
The debut albums by The Strokes and The Libertines, which I rented from TSUTAYA at the same time, shared that same dry texture.
I've always felt that "Hello Again" was meant to be mixed with that kind of dryness, so I decided to remix it. While I spent a whole month of trial and error on the version that's already been released, this new mix came together in just about four hours. This is the sound that truly fits the song.
I'm doing it for the love of it.
