"su-mu" is a single released by Mizuirazu in October 2021. Drawing inspiration from Japanese folk music and traditional sounds from across Asia, the track unfolds a unique sonic approach infused with philosophical concepts.

One year later, in October 2022, a 7-inch vinyl edition was released, featuring on its B-side a remix by Keiichi Sokabe-an artist who has influenced the band. Titled "su-mu -Don't Stop- (Keiichi Sokabe Remix)," this reimagining transforms the original into a disco-inflected arrangement, layering a four-on-the-floor beat and breezy lyrics over the song's memorable chorus section.

Now, alongside the digital releases of "uturu (Ben Nobuto Remix)" and "bakeru (Cwondo Remix)," Sokabe's remix of "su-mu" is also being made available digitally for the first time.

Mizuirazu is currently preparing to release their second full-length album this summer.

Artist Profile

  • Mizuirazu

Formed in 2016, Mizuirazu is a four-piece indie rock band based in Tokyo. Their music is rooted in conceptual approaches such as composing from ideas and philosophies, reinterpretations of Asian folk traditions, and a standalone complex ethos, resulting in a sound that is both experimental and deeply personal. The band released their debut full-length album Almost Empty in December 2020, followed by su-mu (2021), bakeru (2022), and uturu (2023). Through these works, they have developed a distinctive approach that integrates Asian rhythms and scales into a band centered sound, drawing increasing attention from across Japan's alternative scene. In February 2025, Mizuirazu expanded their creative scope by composing runway music for the 2025-26 Fall/Winter collection of fashion brand amok. On August 8, they released a 12 inch single uturu / bakeru, featuring remixes by Ben Nobuto and Cwondo. Later that month, on August 29, the band will release their long awaited second full length album Throw Away the Water, Go Back to Intimacy, their first in five years.
