THE WASURETE MOTELS
Formed in Machida, Tokyo in 2010, The Wasurete Motels have spent the past 15 years playing countless nights centered around live houses, carrying the slogan "three bad kids who love alcohol and are loved by alcohol."
In their 15th anniversary year, the band established their own independent label, I.KENE RECORDS. Stepping away from the production cycle they had followed for years, they embraced a new challenge-to experience every aspect of creation on their own. From this turning point emerged their ninth album, Deacchimatta.
The three preceding singles-Deacchimatta, You Can't Grab the Stars, and Bonkura, A Fool Alone-introduced a quieter, more introspective perspective, distinct from the band's earlier sense of exuberance. Accepting the reality that "the stars cannot be grabbed," yet continuing to walk forward nonetheless, the album captures The Wasurete Motels as they are today.
The record features the piano-driven ballad You Can't Grab the Stars, highlighting keyboard work by Kensuke Sudo; the new anthem Deacchimatta, built around the theme "Spotlight for all humanity, to the center of the world", among other diverse tracks that define the band's current sound.
Different mastering approaches were applied to the digital and 12-inch analog editions, giving each format its own sonic character. Producing an LP-once avoided due to concerns over cost and status-became a deliberate decision: an act of recognizing and affirming the band's own 15-year journey.
This is not a story of a grand arrival.
Rather, it is a record of time that has continued, and of a new step forward.
The Wasurete Motels' ninth album marks their present moment as they move into their 16th year.
