"The Mouse's Wedding" is a folktale passed down across various regions of Japan, telling the story of a small mouse about to get married.
When choosing a groom for his daughter, the father mouse wishes to "marry her to the strongest in the world" and first asks the Sun. But the Sun replies, "I cannot defeat the clouds," the clouds say, "I cannot defeat the wind," and the wind replies, "I cannot defeat the wall."
Finally, when he asks the wall, the wall responds, "It is the mouse who digs holes in me."
In the end, the mouse is the strongest, and the daughter marries a young mouse of her own kind.
This story teaches us what true strength is.
It is not the grand, distant power that matters, but the small, close presence, reminding us that the happiness we seek is already within our own hands.
