City lights overflow, so gentle

Maybe they’re hidden, fluttering around

“Come on out,” I call your name

But the door is half-open still

Streetlights left running

And I wonder why I climbed this ladder of flowers

When the glow begins to rise and bloom

Everything smiles too bright

From the “more and more” I fled

And found myself

On an island of ogres far away

Through the crack of the door

Warmth was lying quietly there

Not holding on as if afraid

Winding the thread back inside

Searching for the door we missed

If dreams must end in sleep

Then let me rest at the edge of night
