『True North』
一本の線は、やがて道になる。
一本の道は、やがて人になる。
『True North』は、Kneeking Recordsの「辞書の旅」シリーズから生まれた『真っ直ぐ』の英語版です。
日本語の「真っ直ぐ」を直訳するのではなく、英語圏で「人生の指針」「揺るがない価値観」を意味する True North という表現をタイトルに選びました。
人生には迷いや遠回りがあります。
それでも、自分をごまかさず、何度でも自分の信じる方向へ戻ることができる。
その姿勢こそが、この楽曲で描きたかった「真っ直ぐ」です。
「曲がるのは簡単だ。真っ直ぐは崇高だ。」
この想いは、広辞苑の「辞書の旅」から生まれた楽曲『ポコアポコ』にも受け継がれています。
『True North』が、世界中の誰かにとって、自分自身の「心の北」を思い出すきっかけとなれば幸いです。
