KODOU - The Soul's Awakening

This song was born from a formative experience at a summer festival in Japan. I was struck by the overwhelming performance of a taiko drumming troupe I happened to see, and it awakened my Japanese soul from deep within.

This track is a sublimation of the raw impulse and the awe-inspiring emotion of that moment into a modern rock sound.

This work is filled with respect for the good old traditional culture of Japan that is being lost, and a wish for our culture to continue for all eternity, as sung in the national anthem "Kimigayo." It is also a prayer for the development of Japan, for world peace, and for it to be a catalyst for the "awakening" of each listener's soul.

The beat of the wadaiko is profound and powerful a sound that can never be replicated by any instrument from overseas.

As a creator, nothing would make me happier than for you to re-experience that soul-shaking moment through this sound, and to feel the sensation of something sleeping inside you begin to awaken.
