Lightning strikes the transparent thicket in the middle of plowed land and untamed forests, scorched grass, quiet light.
This album, the first in nine years since his last album "Night and Fire," is a record of singing alone, as if chipping away at wood or drawing lines on paper. Spun with only voice and guitar, the 32 minutes is like a three-dimensional work with countless lines connecting words and words, and vibrating strings.
While presiding over an instrumental band of 6 members, ono yuuki has been performing with a simple yet profound style using only guitar and singing, which is a complete change from his band.
After taking a break from the band in 2013, he became increasingly drawn to singing for himself, and after releasing his first solo album "Yoru to Hi" (Night and Fire) on his own label in 2015, he has continued to write songs with musicians he admires, including Masamitsu Tomobe, Ryumo Nanao, Yuta Orisaka and Naoya Sawada. The languages and senses of the naves obtained during the U.S. tour with Tomo Nakayama in 2018 are reflected in this work.
The language and the sensations of the naves were warmly and calmly captured by the recording engineer, Wataru Narube. This time, a new trial of 32-bit float and all monaural recording was carried out, and it can be said that the sometimes rough sound of strings is gentle to the ears, and the close and vivid voice has depth, creating a sound image that has never been heard before.
The painting on the cover is by Masaki Suematsu, a Japanese-French artist who worked in both Japan and France during the war.
The design by Wanaka Okada, the same as the previous album "GREENISH BLUE, BLUISH GREEN" under the band's name, carefully weaves the sound world and the artwork together.
Although a 32-minute piece performed by just one person, this piece seems both longer and shorter than it actually is.
Perhaps this is because many of the languages in the work overlap, evoking new images and creating a new time in the minds of the listeners.
