Fried Banana Shop is a three-piece band formed during the frustrating days of the COVID-19 pandemic by local music lovers. The group consists of Ryuju (founder of the creative collective w.a.u), guitarist Tomo, and saxophonist Yoji. They are currently active in the live music venue and club scenes in Tokyo. With roots in Jazz, Indie Pop, and Rock, they construct a soft, warm worldview that uniquely reinterprets dream pop and alternative jazz. They actively produce collaborative tracks with vocalists and rappers from various fields, presenting a genre-less, crossover musicality that transcends the traditional band framework. They also perform as a DJ set, showcasing a multifaceted approach despite being an instrumental band. In 2026, they garnered significant attention with the release of their single "Raccoon," which was featured as the cover for the official Spotify playlist "Modern Jazz Japan," and their EP "Goldenrod," which was selected as the cover for "Fresh Finds Japan." In the same year, they were selected for the "TuneCore Japan INDEPENDENT ARTIST 100 - 2026."
