The "Latin-ish" Bach that makes you smile with the carefree conversation among friends (Masato Suzuki)
World premiere recording of Bach's well-known masterpiece "Goldberg Variations" by Canto de rua, which is the rare band in the world composed of Yoichi Izawa(Steelpan), Shinsuke Usui(Cello), Ken Gonzo Sugamata(Guitar). At first glance, the approach is unusual, but once you step into it, what you find is the depth of nostalgia of Bach's music and the universal joy of music. Canto de rua has meanings of "Street Corner". As the name suggests, this piece brings to mind a scene in which people on the street smile at the Goldberg Variations, which sound as if they are leaking out from a majestic church onto some street corner.
Always would like to make a sound in a street corner somewhere... Formed CANTO DE RUA in 2007 with such thought. The unit consisting of Youichi Izawa on Steelpan, Shinsuke Usui on Cello and Ken -Gonzo- Sugamata on Guitar. The name, CANTO DE RUA(Portuguese), has a meaning as Street Corner. Based on their original songs, the world wove by the each styles is exactly the one and only street sound! Performed live in various places not only in live houses, cafes and restaurants, but also places such as temples, furniture stores, old houses, campsites, museums and galleries, until now. Activities were temporarily suspended in 2009, but activities resumed in 2020. 1st Album "in a street corner somewhere" was released in April, 2021.
