Koi wa Tsuzukuyo Dokomademo
R.U.P.
R.U.P. (Reggae Urban Pop)
- A new kind of urban pop band where mellow city vibes meet the pulse of reggae.
R.U.P. (Reggae Urban Pop) makes its debut with the digital release of their first single "Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo" via TuneCore.
Led by Hinano Ito, a young actress and drummer now stepping into the spotlight as a vocalist, the band brings together seasoned musicians from the reggae and Afrobeat scenes to form a unique, cross-generational hybrid sound.
This melancholic love song set on a rainy day combines the wistful sensibility of city pop with a deep, immersive reggae groove.
Member Introduction
Hinano Ito (Vocals)
An actress and drummer known for her work in the two-piece rock band Shōjo Yūkai ("Injured Girl Dissolution"), Hinano makes her debut as lead vocalist in this project. Her voice - blending vulnerability and charm - delicately captures the loneliness and tenderness of love in the city.
SHANTY-NOB (Bass / Composer / Producer)
A key figure in Japan"s early 2000s reggae scene, SHANTY-NOB played bass for CULTIVATOR and simultaneously released two indie albums with his city pop band carnival balloon.
He also produced numerous reggae covers of J-pop songs during that time - including a notable reggae version of JUDY AND MARY's "Sobakasu," which saw a successful 7-inch reissue in 2024.
Now active as Riddim Conference, he continues to release tracks via France's Tokyo Connexion label, with his music even played by legendary UK sound system Jah Shaka.
Asahi Umezu (Drums)
Leader of the reggae band JAMA-ICHI, Umezu is also known for his work in PANIJAM, a unit with reggae singer PANG. A highly experienced drummer with countless live and studio sessions to his name.
Kento Suzuki (Guitar)
Born in Tokyo in 2002, Kento is a singer-songwriter who joins R.U.P. as a guitarist. He also performs solo at live houses around Tokyo.
Tetta Odachi (Guitar)
A versatile guitarist active in bands such as ODODO AFROBEAT, SAHAS, and Siguah Fang. He joined R.U.P. following the departure of former member Shinichiro Akihiro after recording sessions, bringing a rich knowledge of Afrobeat and funk to the group.
Kengo Oishi (Keyboards)
Replacing Haruka Sasaki after recording, Oishi is a seasoned session player known for his expressive yet stable keyboard work.
Yuki Terada (Keyboards)
A member of the band almenialva, Terada's soft, lyrical touch on the electric piano and acoustic keys brings a refined elegance to R.U.P.'s sound.
"In the midst of an urban soundscape, we captured the flutter of fragile hearts and the warmth of reggae."
A sincere pop project born from musicians who transcend generations and genres - R.U.P. invites you to discover a new dimension of sound.
