The single "love" by the music collective Albem is released on October 4, 2023, and will be the first single from their upcoming album "continue?
In a dark ambience reminiscent of an empty dancefloor, elements such as lo-fi breakbeats, ground-crawling bass, and liquid electronics develop organically, repeating stillness and movement.
The world is losing its ambience due to the social fragmentation after the Corona Shock and the immersion in cyberspace that it has accelerated. However, ambience is a space where various voices, sounds, and many bodies resonate together, and is the power that embraces them. Wasn't it "love"? Based on this idea, Albem tried to digest and sublimate elements of dub, dance music such as post-dubstep, drum'n'bass, and breakcore, as well as rock, which is their original root.
The result is a physical, organic, and emotional sound that is a departure from the virtual vaporwave sound of the past.
The playlist of songs that served as references for the production will also be released with the release of the album.
A four-piece band consisting of nozakimugai (vocals), Shuhei Miyazaki (guitar), Tomonori Sato (bass), and Naru Furusawa (drums). Formed by college classmates, they are active in Tokyo. Starting in 2025, they have expanded to a six-piece lineup, adding a saxophonist and a dub mixer for their productions and performances. Initially aiming for a post-rock and post-punk sound, they gradually shifted toward electro. Having gone through those phases, they now pursue a style centered on beats and groove, along with a free-form sound. nozakimugai (vocals) is also active as a composer. He has composed film scores for works such as *The Most Harmless, Yet Too Aggressive* (directed by Ere Nakada, 2022), *As the Clouds Drift* (directed by Yang Liping, 2024), and *Yinhe* (directed by Haruto Kijima, 2026). In April 2026, they releases the EP *Bones*.
