LAMP EYE IS BACK.

Crossing time and space, a new wave of impact from LAMP EYE is unleashed once again by FUTURE SHOCK.

Nearly 30 years after "Shogen," LAMP EYE releases their long-awaited full-length album.
It has been roughly three decades since "Shogen" was released as a maxi-single CD on FUTURE SHOCK - marking the very first collaboration between LAMP EYE and the legendary label. Now, after 30 years, their paths cross once more.

The legendary hip-hop group LAMP EYE is dropping a full-length album on FUTURE SHOCK for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Entirely produced by DJ YAS, the album features his unwavering beatmaking and even sharper sound design, vividly bringing LAMP EYE's one-and-only presence into sharp focus.
On the mic are RINO LATINA II and GAMA. The masterly skills and steadfast style they have honed over the years collide with DJ YAS's beats, slamming the true essence of timeless hip-hop into today's scene. Joined by an incredible lineup of featured guests, the project acquires a fresh breadth and intensity.

This album is no nostalgia trip. Armed with the time and experience they've accumulated, it is a statement of hip-hop in the present tense.
Adding to the gravity, the artwork is created by none other than the legendary graffiti writer TOMI-E ("Kyosho"). Visionaries who embody street culture in their respective fields-music and art-have converged to craft a whole new visual and auditory world for LAMP EYE.

The bond with FUTURE SHOCK originating from "Shogen," the sound and lyrics forged by DJ YAS, RINO LATINA II, and GAMA, and the artwork by TOMI-E. Carrying the weight of the years and experiences they have each built up in their own ways, this album presents the LAMP EYE of today with full force.

The accumulated time, an unyielding spirit, and hip-hop in the present tense.
Even after 30 years, the impact never fades. LAMP EYE IS BACK.

Artist Profile

  • LAMP EYE

LAMP EYE is a legendary hip-hop duo consisting of RINO LATINA and DJ YAS. RINO set the standard by spitting "Verse 1" (Shogen 1) on the undisputed Japanese hip-hop classic "Shogen" , a monumental track produced by DJ YAS. Formed in the early 1990s as a trio featuring RINO, DJ YAS, and GAMA, LAMP EYE laid the groundwork for the dawn of the Japanese hip-hop scene. They served as organizers and headliners for various legendary underground events, such as BLACK MONDAY, Anettai Urin , Onidamari , and Kaminari Okoshi. In 1996, they performed at "Thumpin' CAMP" at the Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall, which was Japan's very first hip-hop festival. RINO and DJ YAS also played core roles in KAMINARI-KAZOKU, a supergroup formed alongside iconic figures like YOU THE ROCK and TWIGY, releasing the album 330 More Answer No Question in 2004. Both artists have also pursued highly active solo careers: RINO has dropped two solo albums (Carnival of Rino and II) under the moniker RINO LATINA II. Meanwhile, DJ YAS has produced for a wide array of artists, releasing two solo albums (Light and Smoking Gun), as well as putting out music as a member of the elite producer collective, KEMURI PRODUCTIONS.
