This Year, No Christmas (for Me) [feat. HATSUNE MIKU]

bagband

Artist Profile

bagband is a songwriter, composer, and arranger active mainly through the Vocaloid-based music project AOV (Adult-Oriented, Adult-Open Vocaloid Songs). AOV aims to present quiet, open-minded Vocaloid music that resonates with the sensibility of adulthood -- songs that face mature emotions and inner reflections with calmness and space. bagband values the unique expressiveness of Vocaloid and seeks feelings that can only be told through a synthetic voice. Rather than depicting large, dramatic emotions, the work focuses on the subtle "ma" -- the silence and breath that dwell between words and sounds. Melody, harmony, rhythm, and lyrics are designed to resonate naturally with the phrasing of language, rather than competing for attention. Musically, the project is rooted in jazz and classical elements while drawing inspiration from smooth jazz, lo-fi, and AOR. bagband is devoted to the VOCALOID platform, mainly producing with Hatsune Miku V4X, and also incorporates acoustic instruments such as erhu and vibraphone, blending electronic clarity with organic warmth. Guided by the belief that "music is completed within the listener," bagband avoids imposing explicit messages, instead leaving each work open to personal interpretation. The goal is to create music that quietly accompanies the listener's own time, memory, and feelings. Representative works include "No Matter How Old We Get," "Like a Sunshower Passing By," and "Shall We Dance (Anyway)?". Each piece has been appreciated for its gentle emotional tone and mature sensibility. Through all creative activities, bagband hopes for a world where Vocaloid is accepted as a natural musical voice, rather than as something special or separate. Balancing technical exploration with emotional subtlety, bagband continues to pursue that quiet form of expression.
