Phantom Chimneys: Memories of Senju is a four-track mini-album inspired by the vanished industrial landscape of Senju, Tokyo, and the chimneys once known locally as the Phantom Chimneys.
Their number appeared to change depending on where they were viewed from, making them a powerful symbol of memory, perspective and time. Factory bells, freight trains, rivers carrying soot, workers footsteps and families waiting at home return through atmospheric progressive rock and cinematic post-rock.
Although the chimneys have disappeared from the skyline, they continue to stand within the stories of those who remember. Moving from quiet mourning toward remembrance, prayer and renewal, this album is Demmiys musical monument to the people and lost landscape of Senju.
