Incidentally the piano she plays on Pimper's Paradise which also features cello by Stephen "Cat" Coore of Third World. Akiko is mistress of the delicate touch,
His lyrics have earned him equal stature to icons like Dylan and Lennon yet listening to Akikos latest album we are reminded of the sheer musicality of Marley songs of how beautiful and enchanting his melodies are, and how readily they lend themselves to an instrumental project as this.
With help from Maxi and his long-time collaborator Livingstone Brown, plus an array of distinguished guests (including two Wailers), Akiko has succeeded in creating a vision of Marley work that is at once personal and unique. Unlike most Marley fans, she was not initially swayed by his ghetto rhetoric or rebel sentiments

Akiko debut album, lends an intrinsic Japanese character to her music which instead of relying on virtuosity, is refreshingly understated. It has an austere beauty that is akiko to a musical state of grace and yet it contains warmth and feeling, as well as heartfelt intelligence. The Japanese word Shibui fits it quite well or maybe we can use that mystical term Wabi Sa bi which served to define the Japanese tea ceremony. It is somehow fitting then
began to emerge on the world stage. Akiko Moriyako can be seen in this light except she is not looking to imitate Jamaican culture, but forge a genuine synthesis of styles that embodies both Japanese and Western influences. You can hear this on any number of tracks from this latest album.

July 2014 Single Full Hundred - by the sea - released May 2024 First single ' One Love '( Bob Marley) from the second album " THE VIBES II" released worldwide. Bob Marley) was released simultaneously worldwide for digital distribution. The unique and sophisticated musicality of JAZZY and ambient music Akiko Moriyako is a musician of rare elegance whose sound poems whilst wholly contemporary convey a depth and tranquillity that could only be inspired by ancient Japanese tradition. For this extraordinary debut album she is chosen to reinterpret the work of international reggae star Maxi Priest or rather those songs that in Akiko own words remain hidden. She uses the analogy of a Samurai sword left unsheathed because whilst some of them were hits the majority can only be found on Maxi albums and have seldom been performed on stage. That is because despite their obvious merits they were among the more gentle and restrained songs of his repertoire. Akiko approach is an unusual, yet richly rewarding one. Unlike say Charlie Hunter or Ernest Rang who translated reggae classics into jazz she is chosen to reach into the very heart of these songs and reinterpret them with the same delicacy of awareness as a master of Ikebana or Kado the Japanese way of flowers would wherein nature and humanity and in her case, music are joined together in perfect harmony. The results are often trance like and impressionistic as heard in the best of New Age music.
