Iso Uki The Shimmer of Flesh and Faith
Kneeking Records / Written by Guwashi
Born from the Dictionary Journey through the pages of Kojien Seventh Edition,
"Iso Uki" explores the intersection of language, flesh, faith, and pain.
"It must feel good when anemones touch the skin."
From this single thought, a quiet story begins,
where ink and morning dew intertwine,
binding human desire and silent prayer.
From isoi-so to floating names to Ichiyō Raifuku (the return of the sun),
words, calligraphy, and sound merge into one,
singing of the soul's rebirth after winter.
As the Japanese counterpart to the English piece
"Abu Ise - The Dictionary Pilgrimage,"
this song breathes new life into words born
within the womb of the dictionary itself.
- Iso Uki.
A prayer that heals through pain.
Kneeking Records is an independent music label devoted to capturing the soul of the Dictionary Journey through sound. Founded by Yoshihiro Sato a calligrapher, language pilgrim, and former world kickboxing champion the label weaves together words, rhythm, and voice to create a truly distinctive musical world. Since 2013, Sato has been reading Japanese dictionaries one page at a time, drawing inspiration from each definition to craft poetry, music, and calligraphy. This ongoing project, known as Jisho no Tabi (Dictionary Journey), continues to evolve with every passing day.
