Marking the fifth year since her debut as a singer-songwriter,
this release is penpen's long-awaited first digital single.

Set in the fading days of summer, caught between love and romance,
this song layers the sweetness of time once shared between lovers
and the sourness left behind after a breakup on to a single slice of shortcake.

The title "Short Cake" carries a double meaning:
the brevity of the relationship despite deepening affection,
and the short-circuiting of emotions when the electric thrill of love starts to break down.
It's a play on words, infused with penpen's unique emotional expression.

Artist Profile

  • penpen

    Born in 2004, an active Japanese college student singer-songwriter. She studied guitar on her own and started posting cover videos on Instagram when she was in the second year of junior high school. When I was in my first year of high school, I became a member of the session unit PLUSONICA and started my music career in earnest On her 20th birthday, she successfully performed her first one-man live performance and is based in Kansai. It depicts tickling love and anxiety in everyday life in a unique way of choosing words. And it produces colorful sounds with guitar techniques and unique voices that have been polished for many years.
