Lyrics
The clear-eyed Shonen gradually became an adult.
He won't shed tears in that novel or movie anymore.
The clear-eyed Shonen gradually fell into the depths.
The electric guitar that he forgot to play is now gathering dust.
Will tomorrow not come to the lost Shonen?
Lost Shonen, please remember.
The clear-eyed Shonen couldn't overcome many scenes of carnage.
Even from the night he trusted, now it seems like it will overflow.
Clear-eyed Shonen respects his global
Betting his life on the tribal, he became the great ginkgo of December.
The lost Shonen is asked, "Why do you live?"
Lost Shonen, give him the answer.
Reflected in the soft eyes of the lost Shonen.
What is the lost item of Shonen?
Lost Shonen is looking for a different one now.
Lost Shonen, you still need to check your answers, have you?
Love, what a heartless feeling. He knows it's a fleeting thing.
Friendship, loneliness, despair, hope, chaos, love, and hatred, sometimes very passionate, become something that doesn't hurt.
Collapse, oblivion, roar, sob, chaos,
The lost Shonen chooses a different himself from yesterday.
Lost Shonen, he must remember.
Lost Shonen, he has already finished the liquidation.
Lost Shonen, he won't return anymore, can't he return?
Commentary
"Shonen" means a struggling boy. This song is about the melancholy and sorrow peculiar to boyhood called "blues." We can interpret that there were no dreams or hopes, but at the end of life, it contains the nuance of having lived a fulfilling life and being satisfied.
The song follows the rock 'n' roll etiquette but is challenging to interpret, including the opening 5/4-time signature, and is bewildering. The dizzying development includes modulation and rap-like middle parts, so you won't get tired of listening to it. A guitar solo full of hyper feeling unique to the 2020s is played on a vintage 1950s Telecaster equipped with a B-string bender and is one of the highlights.
2Danbelt Experience is the musical project of Satoshi Watanabe, songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, bassist, DTM artist, and sound producer. Since the 1990s, he has been active in-home recording and band performances, and in the 2010s, he led a Tokyo-based three-piece band focused on live shows. Though broadly rooted in the alternative genre, his sound traverses a wide range of styles - from post-rock to Japanese pop ballads and experimental music - embodying a richly eclectic, genre-defying sensibility. Anchored in a deep commitment to the Japanese language, Watanabe's music aspires to travel the world through rhythm. His 2023 debut album, Obituaries, fused experimental, DIY, and pop elements into a transcendent sonic realm - an otherworldly soundscape that earned the label "black Märchen". In 2025, he released his second album, Reminiscences, which continued to explore vivid lyricism and dreamlike illusions through a more grounded band sound. The album marks the evolving depth of Watanabe's musical expression. OURS is the first single following Reminiscences, opening a new chapter in Watanabe's creative journey. A thought too fragile to be spoken becomes a flower, drifting skyward, eventually taking root in someone's heart. Inheriting the emotional nuance of Reminiscences, OURS embodies both stillness and hope, signaling a new expressive frontier for Watanabe. It is a song about sharing uncertain voices, about weaving nameless words with another. In that act lies a quiet resolve to transform pain and hesitation into a graceful rhythm. Built upon a post-rock-inspired spaciousness, with melodies that resonate with the texture of Japanese, the song avoids excess yet unmistakably reaches for something like salvation. OURS is a gift for those who believe in the enduring power of words and music.
