At Miki House is a three-track EP by Ryosuke Takahashi, frontman of the Japanese indie rock bands kuquli and eleki.
Rooted in indie rock and alternative, it drastically shifts its sonic scenery from track to track, yet keeps the songs built around vocals, with Takahashi's voice acting as the through-line.
Track 1, At Miki House, pairs trembling guitars with scattered piano, capturing the afterglow of the night and the afterimage left behind when the noise fades.
Track 2, eureka, blends Beatles-like pop with Pavement-style roughness, plus a small dose of King Crimson madness. It stays light while leaving a strange hook behind.
Track 3, Kakera is midtempo guitar rock wrapped in a 90s alternative singer-songwriter haze. It moves forward with a dizziness-like drift, then opens the view wide in the chorus.
Moving between the warmth of memory and present-day impulse, the EP ties noise and quiet, urgency and acceptance into three compact scenes.
