Arigatou wo Kaze ni

On the morning I changed into short sleeves, folding away last season's long sleeves brought a soft sigh. The shape of the season we shared is still there, but not enough to cry. Walking past the convenience store where we once stopped together, I keep going straight to the traffic light. The same town looks slightly different in the early-summer dusk. I have not forgotten, but I am no longer tangled. I carry the season we shared, gently. There was time between us made of more than words, and I do not want to turn it into a lie. As gratitude, I walk through the short-sleeve town. Letting my thanks ride the wind. If we ever pass each other on the street, I want to be the me who can smile. Letting a finished love ride the wind as gratitude. The dusk breeze brushes my neck.
