Going to get my hair cut became something I look forward to and it is because of my hairdresser. At first I just picked him randomly but he was easy to talk to and had good taste so before I knew it I was requesting him specifically. The moment our eyes meet in the mirror the touch of his fingers at the shampoo station the small talk that starts with how have you been lately. I know he is just being professional. I know I am not special to him. But when I book my next appointment I find myself checking his schedule. Looking for days he is available and adjusting my plans around it. I never thought I would look forward to my hair growing out. This might be a love that will never come true. But just having something to look forward to at the salon makes my everyday life shine a little brighter.
