$till.J.Cark to Release New Single "Jap ¥en Policy" on October 4
- A Manifesto of Anger and Hope, Confronting the Value of the Yen and Today's Society -
Los Angeles-based artist $till.J.Cark is set to release his latest single, "Jap ¥en Policy," on October 4, 2025.
The track was inspired by a personal trip to the U.S., where Cark was struck by the dramatically weakened value of the Japanese yen. From the dark underbelly of Japan's tourism industry to political disillusionment and a broken electoral system, the song cuts deep into the realities of modern Japan-while delivering a powerful message: "We can't leave the future to someone else. It's up to us to redefine value."
The title's use of the word "Jap"-a term historically rooted in racial slurs-is a deliberate act of reclaiming. Like how certain marginalized communities have taken back words once used against them, Cark repurposes the term as a symbol of identity and resistance. This is not mere provocation-it's a redefinition of language, pride, and cultural ownership.
The single's artwork draws from retro horror VHS aesthetics, featuring a graph of the yen exchange rate rising after the song's release-a sharp mix of irony and ambition, hinting at music's power to move even currency.
Born in China, raised in Japan, and now living in L.A., $till.J.Cark brings a rare and layered perspective to his work. "Jap ¥en Policy" isn't just a protest song-it's a declaration of self-awareness, a challenge to the system, and a call to imagine something better.
Don't miss this bold and timely release.
