You were there in that summer
You were there in that summer
I still hear your voice
You were there in that summer
You were there in that summer

You Were There in That Summer
Rina Hayama
Summer passes quietly in a small harbor town.
A long stone staircase, the scent of the sea breeze, a road leading to the harbor, and the view from the pedestrian deck. An ordinary afternoon, walking with a melting ice pop in hand. Looking back, it is often those simple moments that remain the brightest.
"You Were There in That Summer" is inspired by the harbor town of Shiogama in northern Japan.
Rather than telling a dramatic story, the song captures the light, wind, sea, and gentle atmosphere of one unforgettable summer day.
I hope it quietly brings back memories of your own summer, wherever it may have been.
