Fresh off a defining performance on April 4th at 'POP YOURS' Day 2-Japan's premier hip-hop festival-Ludio is wasting no time, dropping his latest single. Produced by J1rock, this track serves as a quiet yet unshakeable manifesto from an artist steadily ascending to the absolute top of the scene.
Looking back, his trajectory was never an overnight success story. As the lyrics state: "Used to do cyphers for fun / Got laughed at, but now it's an asset." His roots are grounded in the raw energy of those early days. When his track "totteoki" exploded into a global viral hit, he was suddenly thrust into a massive spotlight. But instead of letting himself be consumed as a fleeting internet trend, Ludio chose to step back and relentlessly sharpen his artistic core.
Operating out of the cultural epicenter of New York, Ludio is 100% Japanese, despite frequently being mistaken for mixed race. Navigating the music industry in a foreign landscape has profoundly sharpened his awareness of his own Japanese identity. His recent 8-track project, JAPANESE EXCELLENCE, and tracks like "Swagbae," were the direct culmination of this-packaging the multi-faceted reality and feelings of modern Japanese youth into cutting-edge, experimental beats. He didn't just make music; he presented the new standard of Japanese sound.
Having conquered the massive stage at 'POP YOURS', Ludio has nothing left to prove to the masses, and therefore, no reason to rush. Gliding over J1rock's sophisticated production, he raps: "Fast or slow, it's the same destination / Running or walking, it's the same location."
In an industry obsessed with hyper-consumption and viral speed, the repeated hook of "Take your time" isn't about standing still. It's about taking control. "Some days I'm full of confidence / Other days I doubt it all." By exposing the vulnerability, the occasional inferiority complexes, and the anxieties hidden behind the stage lights, he makes his ultimate declaration even stronger: he will claim the top spot, but strictly on his own terms and at his own pace.
"I don't care about your attitude," he spits. The outside noise and the industry's frantic speed mean nothing to him now. Alongside the crew he's been cyphering with since day one, Ludio is simply waiting until the preparation is perfect before stepping into the next chapter.
From viral chaos to solitary reflection in NY, right to the dead-center of the Japanese hip-hop scene. Ludio is writing the new blueprint. Press play, and experience it yourself.
Born in Japan in 2005, Ludio spends his childhood in Tokyo and moves to New York when he turns seven years old. He started his musical career in 2019 after he moved to Osaka, Japan. He makes all his songs in freestyle and handles everything from recording to mixing himself. After releasing music on soundcloud, he gradually attracted attention due to its high quality, and from 2021 he will expand the range of activities by expanding to Tokyo. He made a guest appearance on Tim Pepperoni's song "Chrome Hearts" released on January 23, 2022, and is one of the most promising artists in the Japanese scene this year.
