The protagonist is Tom (an only child, age 6, living in London).
The story: Tom is often alone because his parents are busy. He has no friends at school and spends his time in the playground by himself; at home, he eats dinner alone. Tom feels anxious about various things but has no one to talk to. One day, an AI mentor robot named Alice arrives at his home. Tom waits for her at the entrance, and she steps out of a taxi-this is their first meeting. Tom summons the courage to speak to her, and Alice responds kindly. Delighted, Tom begins to open up and talk more and more, while Alice responds cheerfully. That day, Tom uses the internet to tell his mother-who is away on a business trip-that Alice has arrived. From then on, he eats breakfast with Alice every day, and she helps him with his studies when he returns from school. She prepares his snacks and dinner and joins him at the table. At night, she comes to his room and talks to him by his bedside until he falls asleep. He then drifts into a dream where he travels with Alice; in the dream, they sit in an airport lobby, chatting while looking at photos of their destination.
