Yamato songs by Mihoko Kamiya, the Founder of the O-getsu Ryu Mitsurugi-Do. This is the soundtrack album for "TSURUGI~Chant de YAMATO, dans de Sable," which was performed at the First Conference Hall of UNESCO Paris Headquarters in 2008. Her singing voice and sword dance were praised by the UNESCO Cultural Affairs Bureau, who said, "It's like seeing the original scenery of Japan." All the songs on this album are written and composed by Mihoko Kamiya herself, and are entitled "Ima-goto-no-Shirushi" (Signs of Now), inspired by the " Kojiki ", (=Japanese most ancient national history book) She sings powerfully and delicately at times, about the lyrical and imaginary scenery of a world where the past and present intersect.

Artist Profile

  • Mihoko Kamiya

From the age of three, she inherited the singing and dancing as a art of Shinto ritual from her grandmother, who ran a family teahouse next to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kami-shichiken, Kyoto. sHe entered a music university to search the traditional flute played by Ushiwaka-maru, a character who always encouraged her as a small child. It was there that she encountered the art of the "Tsurugi" (Japanese sword). After experiencing a revelation through the tsurugi, she founded Japan's first "Tsurugi school", O-Getsu Ryu Mitsurugi-Do, on July 7, 1995. As the head (The founder) of the school, she has performed at the UNESCO Paris Headquarters First Conference Hall, the MLB Opening Day, and toured three European countries (the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany) for 30 years. While studying at Kokugakuin University's Faculty of Shinto Studies, also she has obtained a qualification as a Shinto priest (seikai).
