Sanctuary

Based in Kumamoto, Japan, composer Yukiko Kamata creates music centered on piano-driven post-classical and electronic sounds, with a strong emphasis on acoustic textures. She has composed music for numerous companies including SONY, JT, and Mazda Corporation, as well as regional projects and short films. In addition to scoring for visual media, she also creates immersive sound works designed to connect with places and lived experiences.

Sanctuary, the lead single from her upcoming EP Ro Collection, due for release in September, was inspired by the idea that even as we share our lives and conversations with others, each of us carries a quiet place deep within that no one else can truly reach. The piece gently portrays this inner sanctuary, inviting listeners into a deeply personal and introspective experience.

Marking a departure from her previous acoustic-oriented style, Sanctuary is a lo-fi beat track distinguished by its powerful rhythmic foundation. Graceful piano melodies intertwine with driving beats, gradually building emotional intensity before unfolding into a hopeful and uplifting conclusion.

The artwork features an original painting by Kumamoto-based artist yuriko, providing a distinctive visual expression that complements the music.
