Quagero Imazawa / BASSNINJA Bassist,Composer,Actor Insect Artist, Insect Food Developer, Professor, Narrator Quagero Imazawa is a Japanese electric bassist and composer known for his solo performances using a specially customized 6-string electric fretless bass. His unconventional techniques and extended performance style have drawn attention in Europe, the United States, and Asia, earning him the nickname BASSNINJA from international media and audiences. He has performed at major international events, including the Love Parade in Berlin (1998), attended by over 1.5 million people, as well as festivals such as Summer Sonic and Tokyo Jazz. In 2006, he released the album BassDays from King Records (Japan), which reached No.1 on jazz charts at major international record stores. The same year, he was invited to European BassDay and selected as one of the Top 10 Bassists in the World, returning again in 2007. Imazawa has appeared on the cover of international bass magazines, including baJisTa (Spain), and released the instructional publication Quagero Imazawa Method through Rittor Music, which ranked No.1 in its category in Japan. In addition to music, his work extends into film, visual art, and insect based creative research. As a film composer and music director, projects involving Imazawa have received over 70 awards and nominations at international film festivals (2023~2025). He also stars in documentary films exploring his artistic practice, including BASSNINJA film episode0 , which has been screened internationally. In 2025, BASSNINJA film episode0 received multiple international honors, including Best Actor Award (Outstanding Achievement) at the iDEAL International Film Festival (India) Grand Prix at the Hagi ibasho Film Festival (Japan) Best Sound Design (Outstanding Achievement) at the Roshani International Film Festival (India) Best Film of Music at the C2F2 International Film Festival (India)] Best Sound Design at the Asian Talent International Film Festival (India) Since 2021, he has also been active as an insect artist and insect food developer, presenting works that integrate sound, visual art, and edible forms. His exhibitions have been held at museums and galleries in Japan. To date, Quagero Imazawa has released 24 solo albums.
