The word "REVENGE" emblazoned on this record is not a cry to defeat someone. It is the quiet, resolute name given to a feeling known only to those who climb from below. For these eight performers - a group that carries the word gekokujo (the overthrowing of the high by the low) in its very name - choosing this single word for their second mini album carries unmistakable weight.
The opening track and latest single, M1 "Anata Dake ga Suki!" ("You're the Only One I Love!"), is a declaration fired straight from the stage to the floor. The "you" addressed here is, unmistakably, each and every member of the Gekokujo-gumi - the fans who have carried them this far. If M2 "Kakusei Mode" ("Awakening Mode") is the release of heat long held within, then M3 "Shiawase Nante Sa" ("Happiness, You Say") gently gathers up the unguarded tremors of girls living life at their own scale.
