A small piece of music about happiness, born from the trivial sounds of a late night shared at age fifteen.
On September 30, the BL00M will release their new song, "Reiji Chotto Sugi" (Just Past Midnight), via BL00M MUSIC.
The track features 16-year-old singer-songwriter cocomi and 15-year-old bassist Machi (from "Ito no Mori no Ongakushitsu").
"Stories that serve no practical purpose for tomorrow."
A night spent laughing until you couldn't breathe.
Casual conversation. Groundless confidence. Time that seemed to hold no particular meaning.
Looking back later, you realize those are the moments that were truly irreplaceable in life.
Centered around this sentiment, "Reiji Chotto Sugi" captures the preciousness of time spent simply laughing with someonestepping away, just for a moment, from the pressure to become "someone" or to live "the right way."
"Are you happy now?" "Are you smiling now?"
The lyrics, spun like a series of questions, do not lead to some grand answer.
The form of happiness that comes to mind in a fleeting moment is, after all, surprisingly simple.
Combining the BL00M unique sensibilitytransforming everyday scenes and shifting emotions into a beat with cocomis emotive vocals and Machi blissful basslines, the song creates an intersection between the fresh vitality of the teenage years and a perspective that has matured just a little.
As the night deepens and the clock ticks just past midnight...
The conversations you recall before sleep things that seemed trivial at the time are silly, funny, and somehow unforgettable.
"Reiji Chotto Sugi" gently lights a candle within those memories.
"Meaningless things are... so meaningful."
I no longer remember exactly what we talked about that night. But I know I will never forget the laughter we shared.
