Daughter of Amdusias

ladepool is a Japanese post-shoegaze unit that describes itself as an anarchic post-shoegaze unit.

Daughter of Amdusias is ladepools fifth album.

Rooted in electro-shoegaze, the album incorporates elements of dream pop, ambient, electronica, hyperpop, Vocaloid culture, and alternative music, while allowing each genre to retain its own distinct identity and coexist within the album.

Across ten tracks, the album reexamines the universal act of listening to music through the world of a young girl. Centered around a crystal-clear, almost inorganic vocal, it portrays a world in which a girl lives under the control of music itself as if music were a demon possessing her.

Amdusias, the figure behind the albums title, appears in old demonological texts as a being who produces the sounds of unseen instruments and can move trees through the power of sound. Here, we reinterpret Amdusias as a symbol of DAWs and music streaming itself. Is the girl listening to music, or is the music listening through her? The album explores the boundary between the two.
