Ehime Ken' Third Single Celebrates Ikata's Beloved Local Mascots
Ehime Ken, a unique local singer from Nankai Broadcasting known for 'singing about the charms of Ehime entirely on his own initiative,'returns with a new release featuring Ikata Town's beloved parent-and-child mascots, Sadandy and Chibi-Dandy. This song was created as a PR anthem for the local mandarin juices that feature their designs on the bottles.
Set to a moody, nostalgic melody, the dapper father Sadandy-collar up, little curled mustache-embodies the rich sweetness of 100% Unshu Mikan juice, while his son, Chibi-Dandy, brings the refreshing tang of 100% Kiyomi Tangor. In spring 2025, Ehime Ken began his career alongside the Nankai Broadcasting regular radio program 'Ehime Ken no Utacchae Hime!' Just three weeks after the program launched, it won first place in listener voting and the Grand Prix at the TBS Radio 'All Japan New Radio Program Championship 2025,' featured on 'Bakusho Mondai no Nichiyo Sunday.' With all 20 municipalities of Ehime Prefecture as his theme, Ehime Ken creates songs inspired by local food, specialties, landscapes, culture, and everyday life. Rather than traditional tourism promotion songs, he takes a unique perspective on the many charms found in everyday Ehime. His captivating deep voice and instantly recognizable visual style create a distinctive presence. The contrast between his striking appearance and the familiar, often playful subjects he sings about is one of Ehime Ken's unique appeals. While rooted in kayokyoku, his music incorporates a wide range of styles, including rock and roll, reggae, and digital rock, adapting each song to its subject.
