Power

Syunto Ito is a Tokyo-based composer and visual artist. After releasing his EP "Tiny Monster," he will release his first full-length album, "Power."

In this album, Ito explores how human sources of energy emerge. These can arise from the complex entanglements of introspection, relationships with others, society, nature, the universe, and various other existences that are fractal by structure. He composes and expresses this structure through music, weaving together theory and practice, arbitrariness and rules. These themes transcend the music and bleed into the metaphysical realm.

"Power" features a significant amount of sounds created through SuperCollider, a platform for audio synthesis and algorithmic compositions that manipulate simple waveforms like sine waves and white noise. Ito explores the physical characteristics of these sounds, their modulation methods, and their relationship with human emotions. This approach has successfully linked all processes from sound creation to completion.

By deconstructing, reconstructing, and rearranging these sounds, the music breaks away from simple loop structures and follows the essential rhythms flowing through the world. Changes and developments in rhythm are present in each track. Elements like regular and broken rhythms, abstract ambient sounds, harsh noises, and harmonies are scattered throughout. Ito invites all to feel a unique sense of rhythm and time through his music.

Syunto Ito completed "Power" in this way. All of the songs start from his very personal and introspective matters. However, by thoroughly pursuing them, he was able to acquire a close relationship with this world and universality. Ito strives to reach a place that goes beyond subjectivity and objectivity, idealism and materialism.
