In February 2025, the fourth single from "westman8" was released, "Tokyo Nostalgia".
Yohei Nishi, a music composer who is a member of the pop band "balconny" based in Fukuoka and active nationwide, and who has produced and provided numerous songs, began releasing them under the name "westman8" in 2025, using AI to rearrange his own songs.
The theme of this work is "the sadness of the fifth year after moving to Tokyo." Many of my musician friends came to Tokyo with dreams, but many of them are unable to leave Tokyo halfway through their dreams and are desperately clinging on. I sometimes have the opportunity to talk to those friends, and I created this work by imagining what I felt at that time from the other person's perspective. The realistic and sad lyrics and nostalgic melody are familiar, and the indescribable feeling after listening to it makes you feel comfortable.

.Fukuoka's representative pop band "balconny" is a band that is well-known among industry insiders and has many high-quality original songs that never go out of style. They serve as goodwill ambassadors for Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and are in charge of a monthly radio program on FM Yame.
.Each member is active, and "westman8" aka "yohei nishi" continues to work as a music writer and is in charge of a music program for young people on a local FM station. Since 2025, they have been using music generation AI to arrange and distribute original songs.

Yohei Nishi is a Japan based musician, songwriter, and producer, actively working from Fukuoka. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous music productions and songwriting projects for artists, earning a solid reputation among industry professionals for his hands on, practice driven approach. He is a former member of the happy rock band Black1Neck, which debuted as one of Fukuoka's top ranked bands. Currently, he is a member of the pop band balconny, where he serves not only as the bassist but also as the primary songwriter and sound architect, shaping the core musical identity of the band. His work is recognized for balancing strong melodies with groove oriented arrangements, earning deep trust within collaborative production environments. In 2025, he launched his solo project westman8, focusing on music production that integrates AI driven composition tools with human creativity. This approach, blending nostalgia with contemporary sensibilities, has attracted growing attention from music industry professionals as a next generation music production model. Grounded in real world management and long term decision making, he brings a sustainable and practical viewpoint to creative innovation. Starting in 2026, he plans to expand his activities into educational seminars on AI powered music creation, sharing real production workflows, ethical considerations, and strategic applications of AI in the music industry. In addition, he has served as a city goodwill ambassador for six years and remains active as a radio personality, continuously connecting music, media, and local culture.
