少しだけ寂しかった

おばあちゃんが笑う

「先におにぎり食べる？」

私ってわかりやすい

夕方になると

カエルの大合唱

「あ、もう　梅雨なんだ」

季節はいつでも

ちゃんと前へ進んでる

学校帰りの坂道

皆んなと笑いながら歩く

恋バナや休みの予定

聞いているだけなのに

胸のどこかが

少しだけ揺れる

傘は　いつも

ギリギリまでささない

少しくらい濡れても

平気っ！て思いたいから

従姉妹が遊びに来て

庭でBBQ

おしゃべりばかりで

お肉は少ししか食べてない

笑い声だけは

お腹いっぱいだった

「夏になったら海行こう」

浮き輪なんて

ダサいよって笑った

本当は少しだけ

泳ぐのが苦手で

言えなかった

夕焼け色に染まる空

風に揺れる稲の匂い

今年の夏は

何か変われるかなって

1人で空を見上げる

ヒグラシが鳴く

夕暮れ

水面が揺れるたび

少しずつ

上手に泳げる私になれたら…

I’m Bad at Swimming

Golden Week

Helping out with the rice planting

I had to turn down another invitation

“Maybe next time,”

I sent with a little sticker

Feeling just a little lonely

Grandma took one look at my face

And couldn’t help but smile

“Want an onigiri before we start?”

“Don’t make that face!”

Every time she says it

I realize how easy I am to read

As evening falls

The frogs begin their chorus

“Oh… the rainy season is here.”

No matter what

The seasons always keep moving forward

Walking home from school

Laughing together with my friends

They talk about their crushes

And their plans for the holidays

I’m only listening

Yet something deep inside my heart

Begins to quietly sway

I always wait

Until the very last moment

Before opening my umbrella

I want to believe

I can handle getting

A little wet

My cousin came to visit

And we had a barbecue in the garden

We talked so much

I barely ate any meat

But my heart

Was completely full of laughter

“Let’s go to the beach this summer!”

I laughed and said

“Life rings are so uncool.”

But the truth was…

I’m not very good at swimming

And I just couldn’t say it

The sunset paints the sky

While the scent of rice fields

Drifts gently through the breeze

Maybe this summer

I can become

Someone a little different

I look up at the sky

All by myself

The evening cicadas begin to sing

As the water ripples softly

I quietly wish…

That someday

I can become

Someone who’s a little better

At swimming through

Whatever lies ahead…
