Summer Galaxy Tour (2023 Remastered)

Tetsuya Matsushita

Where am I?

My eyes are open but it's black

Oh, my body is numb

I was here when I realized

When I turn around

The opposite of gravity

The pale and shining

Milky Way is flowing

From the light, without a sound

A train’s approaching galaxy station

Please... put me on the train!

From the Orion Arm which solar system belongs to

Summer Galaxy Tour

Who am I?

On craggy stones, on sleepers, I lie on the cold steel

Like a lot of shattered dreams

From the tattered pants

It seems that red blood is flowing out endlessly

But I'm not scared

Because I know I'm in a huge galaxy

Please... put me on the train!

To the Sagittarius A※

My god! It's full of stars!

Cygnus Deneb, white supergiant

Vega where the planetary system’s born

Altair 17 light-years from the earth

Antares burning in the Scorpio

Southern Cross by

Α、β、γ、δ

Next Coal sack is Dark nebula

Galactic center with the supermassive

Black hole Beyond the event horizon!

Summer Galaxy Tour

    Summer Galaxy Tour (2023 Remastered)

    Tetsuya Matsushita

I created this song based on my own experience of falling onto a railway track while drunk and on the motif of Kenji Miyazawa's 'The Night of the Milky Way Train' a story known by almost all Japanese people. The song expresses the longing for the distant galaxy, and the phrase 'My god! It's full of stars!' is a famous line spoken by Captain Bowman in the film '2001: A Space Odyssey.

When I was very small, I played drums in the garden at home using buckets or whatever I could find. The neighborhood ladies praised me for it. At the age of 13, I picked up parts from an old electronic organ and remade them into a DIY synthesizer. Next, I made my own electric drums and electric guitar. Using two open reel tape recorders from Sony, I began experimenting with multitrack recording. In 1985, I produced my first cassette album by myself. It included a drum machine, hand-played synthesizers, and even seventh chords. In many ways, what I was doing back then is not so different from now. After that, I made three more cassette albums and went into a long period of rest. Around 2000, I formed a band with friends and stayed active for about two years, then paused again. In 2013, I became active again, then paused. In 2017, I resumed activity once more, then paused again. In 2023, I started remastering my past works. In 2024, I began using AI. In 2025, I completed an album to mark my 40th anniversary. I may go quiet again after this. Looking back, maybe my songwriting was always like creating demo tapes. I felt that someday, someone else would take these songs, perform them properly, translate them, sing them, and finish them for real. It is as if my songs were preserved in a kind of frozen sleep. Thanks to AI and streaming technology, they have now been awakened and released into the world. I feel deeply moved. Even though I am just an amateur and there were many long gaps, I am truly glad I kept creating for forty years and was finally able to complete it.
