In February 2025, "westman8" released their third single "WORLD DIVE".
Music writer "yohei nishi", who belongs to the pop band "balconny" based in Fukuoka and active nationwide, and who has produced and provided numerous songs, began releasing them under the name "westman8" in 2025 by using AI to rearrange his own songs.
The theme of this work is "the despair and hope of this world". It was created with the image of an ending theme song for an apocalyptic movie about a devastated world. It has a medium tempo, sad lyrics and a melancholy melody, and the inclusion of English lyrics creates an even more desolate atmosphere. The unique sound and worldview that sounds like both Japanese and Western music is a must-listen. It is an attractive work that you will be hooked once you hear it.

Fukuoka's representative pop band "balconny" is a band that is well-known among industry insiders and has many high-quality original songs that never go out of style. They serve as goodwill ambassadors for Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and are in charge of a monthly radio program on FM Yame.
Each member is active, and yohei nishi, also known as "westman8", continues to work as a music writer and is in charge of a music program for young people on a local FM station. Since 2025, they have been using music generation AI to arrange and distribute original songs.

westman8 is the solo project of yohei nishi, a musician with a rich history including his debut with the band "Black1Neck" and his current role as a composer for the pop band "balconny." Leveraging his solid technical skills as a guitarist and bassist, along with a melodic sense honed through years of experience, he began fully integrating music generative AI into his production in 2025. Under the theme of "AI x Human," he reconstructs AI-generated tracks with a distinct human touch. This approach creates a unique City Pop and Urban sound that, while digital, retains a sense of warmth, blending nostalgia with modern innovation. His background is equally unique; he is the 4th generation successor to a family business established over a century ago, successfully balancing creative pursuits with business management. His diverse activities also include serving as a radio personality for a local FM station. Starting in 2026, he plans to launch seminars focused on AI utilization, continuing to define and present the model for the next generation of musicians.
