A Song of Hope, Shining to the World
In 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake struck. At just 10 years old, Hirari Sato, guided by her mother, traveled on her own feet through the disaster-stricken areas, empathizing with those affected and reflecting deeply on their experiences. This inspired her to write and compose her debut song "Mirai" (Future). The entire proceeds from CD sales of this song, which she performed across the country, were donated through the Ashinaga Foundation to children orphaned by the disaster, becoming a beacon of hope and light for the future_not only for those in the affected areas but for countless others.
At 12, she won the weekly championship at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater in New York. She has performed the Japanese national anthem "Kimigayo" on historic stages, including before Their Majesties the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita (then Emperor and Empress), and at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Currently, she serves as the only Japanese Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Choirs Peace Concert, and participated in Youth TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) held in Ghana, Africa. She continues to grow and thrive through her activities both in Japan and abroad.
