Geijutsuka-Hapisolai

Yui Neats (Neat's/RYTHEM YUI) will start streaming her latest full album "Kessaku" on April 10, 2024. Yui Neats, known as RYTHEM's YUI, celebrated her 20th anniversary in the music industry and continues to garner attention as a pop singer-songwriter in her solo career.

This album, titled "Kessaku", was written and composed by Yui Neats herself. The production, recording, mixing, and mastering were done by Hikaru Ishizaki. YUKA from RYTHEM also participated as a guest vocalist, and the recording included sessions with CHIDORI String Quartet and a live band. The album jacket was designed by Yui Neats's younger brother, Rihito Niitsu.

Return of Mary Poppins? Modern-day Queen? Yui Neats's music is free and eccentric."
"Kessaku" which Yui Neats spent over two and a half years for production, combines her childhood love for make-believe play, her imagination, and her experience as a pop craftsman. Each song reflects her turbulent days, and the rich expressive power of her vocals and playful sounds reminiscent of overturning a toy box make it truly captivating.

On the day of the digital release, at 9:00 PM, the music video for the track "Sousaku" will be premiered on Yui Neats's official YouTube channel. Additionally, a two-day solo live event titled "Kessaku Exhibition" is scheduled for May 4th and 5th this year. The event will transform a gallery space into an art museum, erasing the boundaries between the audience and the stage while delivering the singer's voice to the audiences through wireless headphones. It promises an immersive live experience.

Artist Profile

  • Yui Neats

Yui Neats is a multidisciplinary artist who weaves music, poetry, and spatial design into immersive experiences that gently touch deep layers of emotion. Her work is rooted in a refined sonic aesthetic and a sense of narrative, presenting live performance as a form of spatial art with a distinctly personal world-building approach. Since 2014, she has been developing Wireless Headphone Live, an immersive concert format that blends sound and visual installation. In this performance, every audience member wears headphones, allowing the boundary between stage and listener to dissolve. The project has evolved uniquely in Japan, leading to her successful overseas edition Is Your Phonic in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2025. The documentary-style live film received strong acclaim and expanded her collaborative work with Nordic artists. Her music draws soft contours shaped by pop, alternative, jazz, classical, and ambient influences, accompanied by poetic and cinematic lyricism. Her voice moves fluidly between Japanese and her own invented language, Neatsphonic, delivering emotion as pure resonance beyond literal meaning. Beyond music, she works across spoken-word performance, installation concepts, and stage art. She also develops Bedroom Orchestra, a project built on the theme "from a single room to the world," exploring how intimate imagination can open into vast emotional landscapes. Crossing borders of language and culture, she continues to search for music as an experience - a form of expression that envelops the listener through sound, space, and story. In 2003, she made her major debut as part of the singer-songwriter duo RYTHEM, known for several theme songs for Japanese anime and television. She now works internationally as Yui Neats, expanding her conceptual and immersive practice across music and art.
