The pioneers of Japanese amapiano, audiot909, will release a single "RAT-TAT-TAT" featuring rapper Akko Gorilla.
Amapiano is a derivative genre of house born in South Africa. The music is characterized by rhythmic patterns that are not confined to four beats, and the use of special percussion called "log drums" and shakers. It is currently expanding beyond South Africa to Nigeria and the UK.
audiot909 is a DJ and beatmaker who released his first Japanese Amapiano album "This is Japanese Amapiano EP" in 2020, and also writes about Amapiano for various media with DJ mitokon. The collaboration with Akko Gorilla on this single was born out of a guest appearance by audiot909 on the J-WAVE program "SONAR MUSIC", which Akko Gorilla navigates, featuring Amapiano. The song is a thrilling fusion of Akko Gorilla's flexible and powerful rap message with a deep bass beat based on the amateur pianos of South Africa and Nigeria. In addition to the UK Amapiano-specified self-remix that is currently attracting a lot of attention among DJs, a longer extended version that is closer to the South African Amapiano is also included. This is a single that aims to be accepted in a wide range of fields based on the DJ use that only Amapiano, with its roots in house, can provide.
