Leave Me Not

TOMOKO SHIBATA, AYATOSHI OIKAWA

Even if I speak words, call out my voice

Your heavy heart remains suken

When the night’s darkness is too deep

And you can’t escape

I keep praying every night

Longing desperately for the morning

Unable to feel others’ hearts –

There is no future here

If I’ve fallen into sleep, then I still breathing

Nights like that, over and over, I live through time

This body I’ve dragged, this heart too

I resent it because it’s this era

Slander and insults – only chasing what’s ‘‘correct’’

In the everyday life of this small island

Tired from fighting, and there’s no place to rest

But when I notice, there’s a warm palm right there

I want you to realize – there’s a place where happiness lives

You can feel when you touch and embrace

There are moments of love

Please don’t give up

This era is a dangerous place

Everyone is lonely

Yes, that’s why – please, hold on to me

Give me your pain

This Earth is crying too

So if you, whom I love, are alive – that’s enough
